Department of Radiology, University of Colorado Health Sciences Center, 4200 E. Ninth Avenue-Box C277, Denver, CO 80262. A case of sigmoid diverticulitis diagnosed by transabdominal and endovaginal sonography is presented. Clinical findings of sigmoid diverticulitis can often overlap with other abnormal processes in the pelvis. Additionally, sigmoid diverticulitis can esily be overlooked during pelvic sonography if the examiner is not familiar with the sonographic features of this common disease. The typical findings of diverticulitis and associated complications are discussed.
