Transvaginal Sonographic Demonstration of the Hyaloid Artery in an Anencep ha lic FetusThe Perinatal Center, SUNY Health Science Center, Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Division of Maternal-Fetal Medicine, 1000 East Genesee Street, Suite 100, Syracuse, NY 13210 Transvaginal sonography has become a major diagnostic tool for early observation of structural fetal anomalies, and has allowed the detection of fetal abnormalities as early as the first trimester. As image resolution improves, the ability to evaluate detailed fetal anatomy is expanding. It is important that sonographers and sonologists be able to recognize detail not previously available and distinguish normal from abnormal anatomy.
