Mercy Hospital Calculus disease in the gallbladder usually results inpostprandial attacks of the right upper quadrant andepigastric pain that prompt early medical evaluationand treatment. When calculus biliary diseaseprogresses to severe inflammation of the gall-bladder,it may progress to rupture and fistulaformation. When rupture does occur, it is usuallyconfined by an adjacent viscous to the right upperquadrant of the abdomen. The following case detailsa clinical course of advanced biliary disease withgallbladder rupture in an elderly patient whosereticence allowed the disease to progress to anadvanced state.
