Fetal Lingual Dermoid CystSpringfield Perinatology Center A case study of a fetal lingual dermoid cyst ispresented. The cystic mass was seen protrudingfrom the base of the tongue through the open fetalmouth. Teratomas, although usually benign, canresult in a poor neonatal outcome if the respiratorytract is obstructed. The perinatal diagnosis of an oralmass will alert the obstetrician to the possible needto deliver at a tertiary-care center where a team ofspecialists can be available to aid in the establishmentof the newborn's airway.
