Perinatal Center, Las Vegas, Nevada Brain heterotopia is a rare anomaly that can occur in the pharynx, orbit, nasal cavity, and maxillofacial region. These lesions have been known to present as cystic structures and contain cerebrospinal fluid with no cranial communication.
