Use of Logistic Regression Analysis in the Diagnosis of Shoulder Impingement SyndromeQueensland University of Technology Supraspinatus tendonitis secondary to subacromialimpingement is one of the most common causes ofshoulder pain. Subacromial impingement is a heterogeneouscondition with many possible causes, ranging from anatomical abnormalities of the coracoacromialarch to functional derangements allowingsuperior migration of the humeral head duringelevation of the arm. Because of this heterogeneity,it is difficult to diagnose this condition with ultrasoundusing only 1 or 2 criteria. In this study, a widerange of diagnostic parameters was used in a logisticregression model to provide an accurate, objectivemethod for the sonographic diagnosis of subacromialimpingement in the intact rotator cuff.
