The Ectopic Pregnancy: A Well-Deserved Review

An ectopic pregnancy results from a pregnancy followingthe implantation of a blastocyst at any locationother than the endometrial lining of the uterinecavity. Although an ectopic pregnancy is morereadily diagnosed due toimproved testing techniquesavailable today, it is a life-threatening conditionand remains a major source of patient morbidityand mortality. Furthermore, the disease state caneasily become more complex as the patient faces theloss of a child and fears for her own health.
