Renal Cell Carcinoma Extending from the Inferior Vena Cava into the Right Atrium

Renal cell carcinoma with tumor-thrombus extension into the inferior vena cava (IVC) and right atrium is a rare occurrence and is usually seen as an echodense mass within the IVC and right atrium. Echocardiography can help delineate the tumor-thrombus size and evaluate for invasion into the wall of the IVC. This case study describes a patient with advanced renal cell carcinoma. A tumor extending from the IVC into the right atrium is confirmed by sonography.
