Department of Radiology, Lenox Hill Hospital, New York, New York Vulvar varicosities may present during pregnancy as a vulvar mass with associated symptoms of pain and pruritis. The condition can be easily recognized with duplex sonography examination. Scanning the patient in the upright position can significantly improve the diagnosis. Visualization of dilated veins in the vulvar region with demonstration of reversal of flow during performance of the Valsalva maneuver can confirm the diagnosis. The correct diagnosis of vulvar varices can alleviate the patient's anxiety and improve the patient's quality of life during pregnancy.
