Mirror-Image Artifact Mimicking a Carotid Artery Dissection

Sonographic artifacts are a common occurrence in B-mode, color, and spectral Doppler. Sonographers should be aware of the potential occurrence of these artifacts so that a normal examination is not classified as abnormal. In the case presented in this article, a mirror-image artifact from the wall of the jugular vein appeared in the common carotid artery lumen, mimicking a carotid artery dissection.
