Monochorionic-Monoamniotic Twins in Rural AmericaMurray Woman's Clinic, Murray, Kentucky, cjaeger4{at}hotmail.com
Covenant Healthcare for Women, Murfreesboro, Tennessee Twin pregnancies are considered high risk, with monochorionic-monoamniotic twins being a rare occurrence. Monoamniotic twins carry an increased risk for fetal mortality, commonly due to umbilical cord entanglement and/or knotting of the cord. Presented are three cases of monochorionic-monoamniotic twins occurring in a clinic in rural western Kentucky within a one-year period. All three sets of twins had a positive postnatal outcome.
