University of Nebraska Medical Center, Omaha, Nebraska Inflammation of the scrotum is a rare complication of acute pancreatitis with few reported cases in the literature. Pain, scrotal swelling, and hydroceles occur when the inflammatory process spreads along tissue planes to the scrotum. The testes are typically not affected. Sonography is the modality of choice for imaging the scrotum and determining the cause of acute scrotal swelling and pain.
