Pelvic Congestion Syndrome and Its Relationship to Varices of the Lower Extremities

Pelvic congestion syndrome occurs when the ovarian veins are incompetent; it is a common cause of chronic pelvic pain, which often goes undiagnosed and is also a cause of lower extremity varicose veins. Through the review of pelvic venous anatomy, the complexity of pelvic congestion syndrome and the relationships that create this chain reaction of symptoms can be diagnosed, and a holistic course of treatment can be applied.
