Ultrasound Division, Department of Radiology, Louisiana State University School of Medicine, Shreveport, Louisiana. Bilateral renal agenesis can be detected easily by sonography during the postnatal period. Careful sonographic observation of the flattened ovoid adrenal glands filling the renal fossa, in addition to a complete survey of the abdomen and pelvis to rule out renal ectopia, provides a definitive diagnosis.
