Ultrasound is most often prescribed in obstetrics for routine dating procedures. In routine exams fetal anomalies may be detected. Congenital diaphragmatic hernia (CDH) is a fairly rare anomaly that has been detected in utero with ultrasound. The sonographic features of CDH may be very subtle, and sonographers need to be knowledgeable and skilled to detect the abnormality.
