Radiology Departments of Aultman Hospital, Canton, Ohio; St. Joseph Hospital and Health Center, Lorain, Ohio; Northeastern Ohio Universities College of Medicine, Rootstown, Ohio Epidemiologic studies form the basis for any policy regarding the clinical safety of ultrasound. An overview of experimental design and the difficulties inherent in such studies are discussed. An extensive summary of reports of populations exposed in utero is presented.
