Abstract |
|---|
Congenital cardiac masses are rare, with rhabdo-myoma being the most common cardiac tumor occurring in the fetus. Intrapericardial teratomas are the second most common congenital cardiac mass, although reports of prenatal diagnosis in the existing literature are rare. Rapid growth of pericardial teratomas usually occurs after 20 weeks gestation, resulting in pericardial effusion and hydrops fetalis. Fetuses diagnosed with pericardial teratomas have a poor prognosis, with surgery being the only definitive treatment option.
