After an unsuccessful transvesical pelvic ultrasound examination, a transvaginal ultrasound examination was attempted through the surgically formed vagina. The utility and indications of this route of examination in transsexuals, as well as the changes that develop in the prostate of patients who receive long-term estrogen therapy, are discussed.
